Religion in Politics since 1945
This seminar will examine religion鈥檚 role in American politics on both the left and the right from the early years of the Cold War to the early twenty-first century, with a discussion of the civil rights era, the rise of the Religious Right, the culture wars, and ongoing debates about religious liberty and the appropriate relationship between church and state.
This program will be conducted as a discussion, utilizing as the only readings, and with the Discussion Leader facilitating the conversation, instead of lecturing or presenting. Registrants, therefore, are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions. Teachers will receive a Letter of Attendance at the conclusion of the seminar.
