The Spanish American War
Was the Spanish-American War a war for empire or of necessity? How did America Come to fight Spain in the closing years of the 19th Century, and how did the war ‘play’ at home in newspapers in the public square?
This program will be conducted as a Socratic discussion, utilizing as the only readings, and with the Discussion Leader facilitating the conversation, instead of lecturing or presenting. Registrants, therefore, are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions. Teachers will receive a Letter of Attendance at the conclusion of the seminar.
